Dr. Ian Bastow

Research Interests:
As a Leverhulme Trust Research Fellow here in Bristol, my research focuses on crustal and mantle seismic structure as revealed by broadband seismology. I am particularly interested in the development of continent-ocean transition in the East African Rift, but my most recent research has been in tectonically inactive regions including Scotland and Hudson Bay. For more information on these projects, please check out the following links, or select an area of interest on the map below.

  • The Hudson Bay Lithospheric Experiment (HuBLE)
  • The Ethiopia Afar Geoscientific Experiment (EAGLE)
  • Reflections Under the Scottish Highlands (RUSH)
  • The Sierra Nevada EarthScope Project (SNEP)
